Bloom Where You Are Planted began with a simple belief: women over 50 are not finished becoming. We are still curious, still creating, still gathering stories, and still reaching for connection, beauty, adventure, and meaning.
I’m Renee Retzlaff, the creator of Bloom. As I travel God’s world, I’m often amazed by the people I meet, the opportunities that appear, and the joy that comes from saying yes to unexpected moments. Again and again, I’ve seen how connection, beauty, and meaning show up when we stay curious and open.
Bloom was created from that same belief: that women over 50 still have places to go, stories to live, friendships to form, and experiences waiting to unfold.

Renee Retzlaff created Bloom as a welcoming place for women over 50 who are curious about what is still possible. Her work is rooted in the belief that this season of life can hold connection, adventure, beauty, creativity, and meaning.
Through food, travel, nature, photography, story, and shared experiences, Renee invites women to gather, reflect, explore, and say yes to the moments that make life feel rich and alive.
Bloom is not about fixing women. It is about creating spaces where women can feel seen, form real friendships, and remember that their stories are still unfolding.
The moment I realized what Bloom was really about
One of the moments that stayed with me happened beside a river in Alaska. Across the water, a big brown bear stood ready to charge for the salmon. People have asked me, “How did you do that? Weren’t you scared?”
The truth is, I felt alive.
That moment held awe, wonder, respect, and presence all at once. It reminded me that life still has the power to wake us up when we say yes to what is in front of us.
That is what I want for the women who find Bloom — not necessarily a bear across the river, but experiences that stir something awake again. Moments of connection, beauty, laughter, courage, curiosity, and meaning that remind us we are still very much alive.

Why Bloom Exists
Bloom was sparked by a question I kept carrying: what if this season of life could feel more open, connected, and alive than we were taught to expect?
Many women have been taught to make this season smaller, quieter, or more practical. Bloom is a gentle invitation to question that story and make room for curiosity, connection, beauty, adventure, and joy.
Over time, travel, nature, food, photography, and unexpected conversations began showing me the answer. The moments that changed me most were not formal lessons. They were experiences — standing in awe, sharing a meal, meeting someone new, listening to a story, or saying yes when it would have been easier to stay comfortable.
One conversation with a stranger on a beach in Cozumel eventually led me to Kibera, where I used my camera to support a nonprofit serving people in deep need. That experience changed me. It reminded me that intuition is a kind of knowing, and that when life opens an unexpected door, sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is listen.
Bloom exists because I believe women over 50 deserve more of those moments. Not because we need fixing, but because we are still curious, still becoming, and still worthy of experiences that wake something up in us.
